Concept:

Just for the record, I vastly prefer the original November to CE. Props to Myscha for an awesome level!

With that said, I think that @kuma did an outstanding job of selecting the best features of November1's red and blue bases and combining them. Had it not been for the missing flag alarms, this map would have never been loaded in my copy of UEd.

While I still prefer the original, as a league admin I could not ignore the growing popularity of this map. I was impressed when in the same day both {DiE}DarkStar and Byte-SM- independently fixed the flag error and brought their contributions to my attention. Since this map had been voted into an tourney that the OGL will be holding, I was faced with a predicament -- which players' version would I authorize?

After some consideration, I realized that the sub had not yet been made symmetrical (an oversight that many reviewers did not like). To settle the issue, I decided to complete the sub changes myself so that I would not be slighting either player. However, once I got into working on NovCE, I found dozens of things that needed tweaking in order for the remake to live up to the standards of the original November. Thus began a 36-hour-straight UnrealEd session that ended only when I was satisfied that the level was perfected. (Miraculously, my inspiration filled me with vigor and I never became tired in the slightest!)

But enough about me, on to the map!

Version History:

Below are the changes that differentiate my release of November Clan Edition from @kuma's:

1.05

  • After receiving feedback from the UT clan community, I made the door jambs in the flag room flush with the walls so that players will not get snagged on them

  • Rewidened the door at the top of the steps from the ASMD area like in NovCE1

  • Reangled the wall outside the narrow flag room exit like in NovCE1

  • Removed or filled in the rafters in the ceiling of the fan room to prevent camping (someone could still stand atop the stringer for the lights but it's a poor angle for attack and they would be wide open).

1.04 (public release #2, February 8, 2001)

  • Fixed the nonsolid rafters in the sub pen, thanks Byte-SM-

  • It is no longer possible to hide in the skybox above the flag bases, thanks [FAE]Chief

  • Retextured both bases to use the same brick tones as in Nov1: Red has gray bricks, blue has tan bricks

  • Remember the recessed ceiling with the fan (above the red superhealth) in Nov1? Well I always thought it made for cool eye candy, so I created a similar area in each base above the asmd ammo (in front of the balcony)

  • Modified the architecture of the path to the foxholes and the entrances to the flag rooms to make them more like in Nov1

  • The lights above the stairs are once again suspended from girders... like in Nov1

1.03 (beta 2)

  • Ramps up to sub are now staggered like in Nov1

  • The columns lining the sub pen are aligned more like in Nov1 -- you can once again snipe from one Foxhole to the other

  • Removed the crate from in front of the sub-pen foxholes and made the crate setup more like in Nov1

  • The sides of the Flak loft are recessed like in Nov1

  • Some missing sub-pen lights were added and some extra ones were removed, the "floating" coronas were also corrected

  • Changed the hue of those awful sterile lights throughout the map back to that of Nov1

  • Replaced the missing ripper by the flag base

  • My Hallmark: BETTER LOCATION STRINGS!
    Sub Pen Red/Blue Side
    Sub Pen Rafters
    Damage Amp
    Red/Blue Shield Belt
    R/B Foxhole
    R/B Flag Base Rafters

  • Restored the "blue" water landing by the outer foxholes

  • Added health packs under superhealth overlook

  • Added health vials (as noise warning) to the old flak cannon niche

  • Bots can will now use the foxholes as an entrances/exits and can finally cap flags! For some reason they seem to ignore the U-damage and alternate flag routes though.

  • The rafters in the sub pen are now symmetrical. This includes the beams supporting the pennants as well as a hazard beam that I suspended from (nonsolid) chains in front of the sub bay door.

  •

1.02 (beta 1)

  • rebuilt the sub's main hull, made the front and back ends equally long and retextured the whole sub

1.01

  • AKA NovemberCE][: DarkStar and Byte independently fixed the missing flag alarms

1.00 (public release #1)

  • Akuma's version
