Introduction
So what is Soccer Tournament then? Soccer Tournament is an exciting new gametype for Unreal Tournament. Unlike regular Tournament gametypes, no-one gets killed, there are no pickups, and there's no easy way of winning. You must work with your team to score goals by kicking a soccer ball into a goal area, and either get the most goals within the time limit or win by reaching the goal limit.
Quick Start
This is a quick guide to show you how to start a game of Soccer Tournament and explains the HUD and scoreboard:
- Once you have started Unreal Tournament, start a new Practice Session or Multiplayer Game (ST is fully multiplayer-enabled). From the Game Type list, select "Soccer Tournament":

- Then go to the Rules tab and set up your options. I recommend using a 0 score limit with about a 5 minute time limit, and Tournament Mode turned on.
You can now click Start to begin the game.
Once in-game, you'll see a small soccer ball in the bottom-right of your HUD. The colour of the ball shows which team you're on - if it's red, you're on Red team, if it's blue you're on Blue team.
The counter in the middle of the ball shows the time remaining for the game. If the time limit is set to 0, it will show the time you've been playing for.
Some maps may have a score board or two in them, like the one shown on the left. They are a quick reference so you can see how each team is doing in the game. The red numbers on the left show Red team's score, and the blue on the right shows Blue team's score. The white text at the bottom-centre shows time remaining the same way the HUD does.
Scoring
To score goals in Soccer Tournament, you simply have to knock the ball around until it lands in the goal area.
Each team has a goal they are supposed to score in, so if you are on Red team, try to get the ball into the goals with some indication of red (some may have a red light, red panels around them, etc.), or if you're on Blue team, try to go for the blue goals.
When you get the ball into a goal area, your team is given a point, but if you or someone on your team scores in the wrong goal area, the other team will be awarded the goal. Your team will not suffer any penalty for own-goals.
When a goal is scored for either team, the camera will jump to a nice angle and a count-down will begin, after which all players will be respawned on the field and the game will continue.
Mapping
If you would like to create custom Soccer Tournament maps, please refer to "Mapping.txt" in \Help\Soccer\ where you have Unreal Tournament installed.
